If you are jump-starting your car with jumper leads and another vehicle. Here's how:

1. Locate the batteries in each car. Ensure neither battery is not damaged or leaking.

2. Park the cars close to each other, but with engines off and in park (or neutral for manual cars).

3. Use jumper leads with built-in surge protection. Follow these steps:

a) Connect the red positive lead to the positive terminal of the dead battery.

b) Connect the other end of the red positive lead to the positive terminal of the good battery.

c) Connect the black negative lead to the negative terminal of the good battery.

d) Connect the other end of the black negative lead to clean, unpainted metal on the dead car's engine block.

4. Start the good car and let it idle for a few minutes, then start the dead car.

5. Disconnect the jumper leads in reverse order.

6. Take the revived car for a 20–30-minute drive to recharge the battery.
